Protecting Infant Health in Africa: You Can Help Save Infant Lives

Malnutrition and sickness continue to imperil African children; more than 1 million die each year. Much needless infant morbidity and mortality is directly attributable to a decline in adequate breastfeeding practices.

But breastfeeding protection and promotion in eight African countries is getting a boost: a two-year program encompassing health professional training and education, development of a resource centre, and public awareness kicked off this spring. The program is implemented jointly by IBFAN Africa and INFACT Canada.

Partnership Africa Canada has provided the majority of the funding, but the onus is on INFACT Canada to raise the balance of $55,000. You can make a tax deductible contribution by using the form enclosed in this newsletter. And if your membership has expired or is about to expire, please take this opportunity to renew. Membership dollars are crucial to maintain INFACT's ability to protect, promote and support breastfeeding in Canada and globally.

If you would like to arrange to donate to INFACT Canada for Africa you can use this form. Please specify in the space provided that you would like your donation to be used in Africa.
