Thanks to INFACT member and pharmacist Jennifer Peddlesden, the Canadian Pharmaceutical Association (the National Professional Association of Pharmacists) has approved a Position Paper on Breastfeeding and Infant Nutrition.
The statement recognizes "breastmilk to be the ideal food" for infants and says
breastfeeding is an important immediate and long-term preventive health care measure for both infant and mother
The assocation supports the WHO International Code and encourages pharmacists "to be familiar with the WHO Code and to monitor their marketing practices."
When you see free samples and/or "shelf talkers" in your pharmacy, remind your pharmacist of the association's support of the International Code.
