The ratification of ILO Convention 2000 No. 183 continues…

In June 2000, International Labour Organization (ILO) Member States adopted ILO Convention 2000, No 183 on Maternity Protection at the Workplace (C183) and its Recommendation 191 (R191), which sets guidelines for the  proper treatment of mothers by employers. By February 2001, lovakia and Italy had ratified;  Bulgaria and Romania followed suit; by the end of 2005, eleven countries in all have ratified the Convention. It is not a popular convention as it requests much of states and of employers.
