Nancy-Jo Peck

Nancy-Jo Peck representing IBFAN at the Codex Alimentarius meeting in Rome, 2000

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a very dear friend and colleague Nancy-Jo Peck.

Nancy-Jo, who was an immensely valuable IBFAN co-worker with the Geneva Infant Feeding Association, had been battling against cancer for over four years. As one IBFANer put it, "she was so brave in her struggle for social justice, yet we knew that she was also battling the enemy within, and with just as much strength and courage". It was her work and all the support of her friends and colleagues which helped her fight this war on both fronts.

She was always there with us and for us, as a tireless advocate, never missing an opportunity in her quest for justice. Her intellectual and analytical capacity combined with a love for friends and colleagues energized all of us, making sure that we did all we could. Nancy-Jo's contributions in setting global standards for breastfeeding support and protection will continue to make immeasureable impact on the health of women and children globally. We celebrate her exemplary life.

Nancy-Jo was at home with her husband Bob and her two daughters, Sarah and Amy when she passed away.
